About us
The "Grupo de Pesquisa e Plastimodelismo Santos Dumont" - GPPSD is completing 30 years of formal existence in 2008 as a civil entity, nonprofit dedicated to the dissemination and teaching of plastic modelism as a historical and cultural preservation.
GPPSD has had the privilege of having a body of members of excellent technical and artistic level, willing to spread the techniques of the practitioners modelers the hobby, is teaching courses, competitions and exhibitions are organized regularly, and participate actively in events of other associations of modelers of São Paulo State, other States and even from other countries.
Our headquarters is at Rua Curitiba, 290, Modelódromo, Ibirapuera, São Paulo - SP, and runs on Saturdays from 10 hours.
Our events
During the year, we organize regular events:
- National Convention and Exposition National to be held in November 2009
- Contests specific topic for the military, aviation and cars, carried out every two months in our office
The events consist of a static display of models made mostly of plastic, with the most competitive part of the show where there are awards for about 100 categories and sub-models, plus 8 to 12 classes and special topics that are announced with sufficient time to allow the execution of the work and its presentation in the events.
The competitions / exhibitions are held in one end of the weekend, with tables of exposure, local support for registration, stands of kits and accessories stores
We have achieved the participation of about 180 to 230 modelers competing with a total of 1000 to 1200 models in each event and are visited by 2,000 to 3,000 people during the weekend.
During the events, we rely on the presence and support of various merchants and manufacturers of models and accessories for assembly and complementation of the original factory kits, with an average of 15 points of distribution, including it in hobby magazines. Besides them, we had the institutional participation of various units of FAB, the Brazilian Army and Military Police.
Finally, during the events are made tributes to important figures in Brazilian life, either by actions performed in the service of our Armed Forces, is the effort and commitment demonstrated in the preservation of our history, as authors of books, works of art or publication of materials reference to use in our research. Among the honored guests and we had the satisfaction of living, quoted the commander of IV COMAR, the Commanders of the PAMA-SP, the veterans of the campaign in Italy by FAB FEB and during World War II, artists of aviation art, modelers projection in the middle, etc..
